The Great Run
There is a true story behind every tale. Such was the case when in 1925 epidemic which broke out in Alaska generated the main tale of the North. In Nom city stock of antitoxin came to an end amidst outbreak of disease. A daring sled dog racer Sepalla set out to get the serum. Running ahead of flaming aurora, a team of 18 Huskies carried the sledge towards the polar night. This was a ‘Great Run’, extremely dangerous and hazardous. The paws of alpha dog Togo were bleeding but he never stopped. He was leading the pack to the great goal: to deliver valuable cargo and save people who named Husky the Legend of the North in consideration of the lives saved.

Polar night
It’s year 1958. Antarctic research station Syowa. Due to heavy weather conditions Japanese expedition urgently evacuates its staff. 11 winterers are taken away in two flights, but the most violent storm makes it impossible to make another flight to collect the dogs. 15 Huskies are left at the station with one-month food reserve. No one doubted that Huskies were dead in such conditions. In July 1958, in Tokyo city Siba park, there was a grand opening of monument to Syowa sled dogs. A year later another expedition came to Syowa Antarctic research station. Two surviving Huskies, Taro and Jiro, greeted them. These dogs managed to survive and become the legend by virtue of their cast-iron will and unbendable spirit. Husky is the Legend of the North.

Three dog night
Both now and always the Evenkis have known: if dogs dig themselves into snow, and holes appear in snowdrifts with vapour coming through, then a three-dog night is coming up. Survival through this night is possible only with help of Huskies. Ancestors said: on a three-dog night let three Husky dogs in yaranga, feed them, honour them as most welcomed guests. Faithful Huskies will repay good for good. Only Huskies can warm you up on a three-dog night and keep the light of life.
